In this tale of mistaken identity, an impoverished Russian child named Elena Rudina accidentally swaps places with the blue-blooded young Ekaterina, who was passing through the rural village by train on her way to see the Russian Tsar in Saint Petersburg. When the girls switch places, a bizarre set of events unfolds around them as they courageously mount their personal hurdles and separately set out to attend the Tsar’s ball. Only Baba Yaga, the Russian witch of myth, has any hope of helping them and in the process help set Russia back on course…
